J2 DallasCon 2016 Gold Panel

• This morning Jared jogged a couple miles to Walgreens to buy Prilosec. Had to call an Uber to get back to hotel. Jensen: Make something up! Not like you got butt cream…
• Jared: “So I’m Ubering back to the hotel all sweaty with butt cream.”
• Gen’s response to Jared calling an Uber: Uh-huh, let me talk to Jensen.
• Jared was all sassy when a fan said that the boys are getting on in age lol.
• Jensen: I love that even new crew still refer to us as the boys. 
• Jensen talks about the EW cover shoot on Baby’s hood, said they kept sliding off of the waxed hood. Jensen hooked his belt on the windshield wiper to hold on. 
• Their backs hurt days later from some of the poses they did in order to stay on the hood as well as the other pics. 
• J2 improvised the EW pie picture with Mark and Misha. At first Jensen was just going to be serving the pie and they were like, that’s not what we would be doing.
• Jared loves watching the gag reels, they make him laugh, watches them to cheer up sometimes. He finds them funny because it’s their lives. He sees the gag reels more than he watches the show he thinks. The boys think the gag reels should be longer. 
• Jensen talks about how they basically get the gag reel done within the first two episodes lol so you can imagine how much footage they actually have. The camera guys are quick on the trigger. As soon as he and Jared are “doing something stupid” on the camera, their focus puller immediately hits record. Jared: Some of the stuff would probably land us in prison. Jensen: It should. Sometimes Jensen will see them shooting something for the gag reel and he’ll be like, were you shooting that??
• Jensen says he and Jared use the slate clap as a “starter’s pistol” to turn into Sam and Dean. Jared: I can’t act without the slappy thing! LOL Jensen: It was slategate. Re: them trying to use a digital/electronic slate vs the real thing and how it didn’t work out so well lol. They don’t use it anymore. 
• Jensen: The brothers are an inspiration to everyone fighting their demons. Talks about finding what inspires you. 
• When and if the show comes to an end they will certainly be having a conversation about doing a movie. 
• They talk about their goal about getting to at least 300 episodes. When Jared talked about the 300 ep goal in their Entertainment Weekly interview, they got an email from the higher ups saying, don’t say the show is gonna end that early! Jensen was like, we were only talking about the next milestone not that that was the end point! On to 350 lol! It was nice to hear the higher ups say that, though. 
• As long as Sam and Dean have stories to tell, it will continue. Jared: Supernatural will never die. I think we need a Sam and Dean movie every five years :P
• Favorite cake? Jared: Beef cake! 
• Jared loves red velvet cake (it was his wedding cake). Jensen: Which is just white cake with red food coloring in it. Crowd reacts, Jared gently hits Jensen in the shoulder with the mic in protest. Fan: Stop being a hater. Jensen: I’m not being a hater! I love red velvet cake but it’s just dolled up white cake! …My wife’s gonna hit me when I get home. 
• Jared talks about doing the stunt with him jumping into the backseat of Bobby’s car in 3x01 and how he hit his head on the car a few times, not realizing he was hurting himself. Later a chunk of scalp and hair came off of his head from where he had hit it. Props actually saved it so they could use it later in the show! 
• Fan asks what is the weirdest text message they’ve ever sent to each other? J2: No way can we tell you that. Jared: There was one yesterday *laughter* Jensen: Oh, you wouldn’t be disappointed. Sometimes we are still boys.
• Jared: There have been some doozies. 
• Jensen talks about their running joke about how if any conversation of theirs or with Misha was recorded they would lose their jobs, their families, their friends, and probably go to prison lol. 
• Jared tells a story about Jensen texting him: The rest of my tooth fell out. Talks about how the previous day Jensen was like, I’m tired, slap me. So Jared did, without thinking, and accidentally knocked part of his tooth out! It’s part of their “fight club” moment (in relation to a story they’ve told before about wrestling in the hotel room a few years back x). 
• Fan asks about accents, Jensen says that if he hears something he can imitate it fairly quickly. He has to be around it, i.e. mimicking Ruth’s accent. Jensen says that his wife on that other hand is terrible at accents.
• The boys do a whole bit about Jared asking Danneel to do different accents and Jensen pretending to be Danneel doing bad accents lol.

J2 DallasCon 2016 Main Panel

• Talking about gifs. Jensen: It’s like a gift without the “f” 
• Boys are excited about all of the Texans in the room. 
• Last time they’ll have a panel before s12 premieres they think. Also the last panel in Dallas. 
• Jared tweaked Jensen’s nipple lol.
• Jared to the fans: We hear the love, we feel the love. “We ‘curse word’ love you guys.”
• Dean will be the oldest in s12 out of Sam, Dean, and Mary.
• Jensen: “You say older, I say wiser” re: Dean’s age. 
• Jared’s hair routine in the morning? Jared: How long do you have? Jensen’s hair routine. Jensen is in the makeup chair, Jared in makeup chair. Jensen to Jared: Done yet? Done yet? 
• Jensen on Jared: His dedication to winter headgear is astonishing. 
• Jared points to his beanie and says: This is how Jared feels comfortable being Jared. He’s learning to be enough. “I’m learning that this is me and I am enough.” 
• The look on Jensen’s face when Jared explained his beanie attachment was really sweet and understanding.
• Jared says Sam’s hair routine is a different story, takes over 20 minutes. Jensen: Does that mean Sam isn’t enough? Jared: No, Sam is enough, he just doesn’t mind the 20 minutes but Jared does lol. 
• Jared brings up their buddy Jon Dorenbos on America’s Got Talent. The fan tells Jared she voted for him because they told us to. J2 pump fists and are happy about that lol. 
• Jensen’s pick-me-up song is whatever his daughter asks him to dance to with her. JJ picks the music in the Ackles household.
• Jared plays and dances to Taylor Dayne song. Will play cheesy 80′s music when he wants to be silly. They remind him of a simpler time. 
• Jared plays a song, Jensen: And this is why driver picks the music…
• Jared’s favorite graphic novel, eight years ago when there was only four of them, was The Walking Dead. Now there are more of them and he has them all. 
• Jensen was not into comics when he was younger and now he’s living in a comic. 
• Jensen has a few favorite death scenes. S3 finale and s11 when Dean thought Sam was dead in “Red Meat” and Dean overdosed to save him. Said that scene was hard, and did it several times. The pills were empty gel pills and placebos. 
• Jared likes to make Jensen try food and drinks he thinks taste gross. And of course Jensen does it lol. 
• Jared’s favorite death scene is also from “Red Meat.” Jared hated being dead on the bed in s2 AHBL2 since he wasn’t allowed to breathe throughout.
• Jensen tells a story of how during one of the takes in AHBL2 Jared farted and Jensen said he heard it and saw Jared smile when he was supposed to be dead. “Code 7, clear the set.”
• Jared: When you hold your breath and swallow a lot of oxygen- Jensen: Sometimes it’s gotta come out. 
• Lots of “Red Meat” and Nina Lopez-Corrado shout outs.
• Fan asks how they would feel if they were in Crowley’s version of hell which is standing in line. Jared would rather be running and fighting than queueing in hell. Talks about how when they’re waiting in between filming he sometimes feels like a racehorse waiting at the stables when they have to wait in their trailers- Jensen: You’re such a thoroughbred. 
• Jensen thanked everyone for their understanding and patience with the lines today.
• Fan says she’s going to UT but her sister is attending a different rival college. Jared jokes about getting her sister out of there lol. Jared talks about friends that went to different Texas colleges. A fan calls out, Go Sooners (which is a college in Oklahoma). Jensen talks about the origin of the name Sooners and calls those fans a bunch of criminals lol! (Learn more about the Sooners origin name here: x). 
• Jared was enrolled in UT during Gilmore Girls so he’s obviously a UT fan. 
• Jared said he was the original Dean and Jensen said “you were a Salmon Dean” lol!
• Fan congrats Jensen on the twins. Jared teases: You say congratulate, I say give him condolences. Jensen: I accept both. 
• Worst creature to run into from the show? Fan yells out: Crowley! Jensen: Guys, let’s not go with the obvious answer. Jared jokes: It’s not Crowley it’s Mark Sheppard. The boys crack up. Jared: Shapeshifter. Jensen: Poisoned tacos.
• Jensen said that the time that they’ve been on the show these years has changed and they’re always learning. They are very different people than when they started on the show. They have both grown in their personal lives and professional lives. Jensen’s advice on someone who wants to be an actor is to be a sponge when you’re on set, take everything in. Talks about what has made him and Jared better on and off screen. 
• Jared agrees and says he’s learned to love the gray. Touches on how his viewpoints of people have changed and on not jumping to conclusions about people. Nothing is absolute, things change. Takes forgiveness. 
• Jared: You’re a lot stronger than you think you are. When he meets people that thank him for helping them he wants to tell them that it was their strength that did that, not his. “Thank you for thanking me, but it wasn’t me” it was “your strength.”  
• Fan starts to ask about their plans after Supernatural ends. Jared asks the audience if anyone wants it to end. A fan tells the boys that they only want spn to end so they get to spend more time with the kids and wives. Jensen jokes: Genevieve get out! The boys crack up.
• What projects do they want to work on after Supernatural. Jared: Retirement. Jensen: The role of father and husband. Then adds: And son. And brother. And friend…and then Batman. Jared cracks up and hits Jensen on the arm.
• Jared just wants to be a guy from Texas. Says we probably won’t see much of him post-show and that’ll be his choice and a good thing. He won’t “be gone” but he’ll be happy. 
• A fan asked Jensen what he would like to direct and Jared said, “direct me.” 
• Jensen would like to direct stories or actors that come to him. He has two dream directing jobs but he won’t share them out of a slight superstition. 
• Jensen enjoys working with people who respect what they do and respect him and he’s lucky to have that right now.
• What of Texas do you take on the road? Jared: The values. Jared acknowledges that there are good people and bad people everywhere but feels he was raised in such a way by and around people that really stressed the importance that we’re all humans doing our best. No one’s better than anybody else. We’re all just here, we all have struggles and our strengths.   
• Jensen agrees with Jared, says both their parents did a good job giving them good values. He talks about inclusion, he and Jared both agree that no one likes to be excluded. You treat people the way you want to be treated. 
• A fan asks about Castiel’s 8th anniversary. The boys act like they don’t know who the fan is talking about and start whispering to each other. Jensen: Is that the dude that talks weird and wears a raincoat when it’s not raining? 
• Fan wants to know how Sam and Dean would celebrate Castiel’s birthday. Jared said Sam and Dean would give Cas a pie in the face lol. Maybe take him to strip club to watch him squirm. Jensen says that Dean would be happy to be at the strip club, though lol. 
• The boys didn’t know today was the 8th year anniversary of the character of Castiel so the fan explains it to them. Jared imitates Cas saying “I raised you from perdition.” Jensen says they could make angel food cake with a hand poking out the top. Jensen asks Jared what they would binge watch? They come up with Angels in the Outfield lol.
• A fan is a federal agent. Jensen asked what department? Figures out it’s prison as the fan walks over and shows them her badge. Jensen stands up and walks away as she approaches while Jared inspects the badge lol. After looking at her badge Jared goes, “I, uh didn’t do it” and Jensen carefully handed back her badge. 
• Jensen asks her how often she has to flash a badge. She says, “Everyday.” Jared: To who? Jensen: To the people that are in her prison!  Lots of talk/joking about prison. Jared: I can’t take him anywhere.
• A fan in the back of the audience fainted. They ask for the houselights to be turned up and to give the fan some air. Richard, Rob, and Louden Swain came out. J2 are very concerned. After getting a thumbs up that the girl is okay, Rich turns to the boys and says: “Blame the musk” and walks off stage. J2 shake their heads lol.
• Jared (about the fainting fan): Was it my mom? Jensen: No, she left hours ago, dude.
• A fan asks if they would bring Bobby or John back and Jared said Ruby and did the mic drop lol. Jensen recommended a “jock pad” for Jared’s crotch because of the mic drop. They apparently discussed it after Jared hurt himself at the last con dropping the mic accidentally onto his junk :P
• Jensen is having a hard time picking between Bobby or John. Jared says, Charlie! Jensen: These aren’t options!
• Jensen touched Jared’s hand and Jared smelled it lol.
• Jared told a fan to drink water and Jensen said it’s vodka. Jared: Drink more!
• Fan to Jared: We know you’re the original Dean- Jensen: On a different show! Gilmore Girls is about girls crying in a coffee shop. Fan brings up that Jensen was on Days of Our Lives- Jensen: Where I had another sister named Sam. She was basically asking if it was a weird coincidence to them that they were now on a show as Sam and Dean when they were either playing Dean and opposite a Sam in previous roles? Jared talks about how when the crew was first learning J2′s names on set in the first eps they would call them Sam and Dean and Jared had to get used to not reacting to being called Dean or going to the wrong mark.
• Jared: If he needs to be the short Dean he can be the short Dean. Jensen: And if he needs to be the tall Samantha he can be the tall Samantha. Jared: Gladly lol.
